Creating a better Alabama will take more than ideas, it will take collaboration and the legislative will to make the right choices for the future of our state. We cannot continue plugging the leaks in our state’s budget one year at a time, robbing Peter to pay Paul. We must have a long-term plan and we need to adequately fund our “rainy day” budget allocation to prepare for an eventual economic downtown. Right now, we are walking a tightrope without a safety net.
We all hope that economic downturn stays away for a while, but economies are cyclical in nature and history tells us they will occur again. With so many pressing needs, we need to have the leadership in Montgomery to ensure Alabama and our priorities are protected to the best of our ability.
